The Friends of the St. Joe River Association in partnership with state and local agencies and organizations from Indiana and Michigan hosted two educational workshops and a watershed wide Forum during the months of June and July, 2006.
The meetings were underwritten by Indiana - Michigan Power a division of AEP.
The purpose of the meetings were to identify an organization that can insure that the goals set forth in the recently developed Watershed Management Plan (WMP) are addressed and completed.
"Friends" were identified as that entity as a result of the Forum. The Friends organizational structure will be expanded, retooled and revised to assume responsibility for coordinating implementation of the WMP and act as the primary advocacy group, information clearing house, and planning partner for the watershed.
A transition team has worked to address this goal. We have a new expanded board and developed new ByLaws to meet the requirements of this goal.
We are excited about this process and what the outcome means for the future of the St. Joe River Watershed.
Please continue your support of being a good steward of this wonderful natural resource we all share.
